(Mar 08) The 2008 Budget - Little, if anything, new for small businesses that hadn't already been announced in the 2007 Pre-Budget Report. Increased corporation tax for small private limited companies was already announced but is still a real disincentive for small businesses to grow - especially after years of Gordon Brown reducing corporation tax. A bit of stability rather than these up's and down's would be appreciated by the small business community to help them plan. However, some excellent news is that the proposed income shifting legislation which was planned to be introduced in April 2008 has been deferred until 2009 at the earliest to allow for more consultation - another U-turn from the new Chancellor.
